Strong public education is the backbone of a thriving community, and strong communities are essential for building a better world. Sandra believes that a focus on tangible improvements must start at the local level, while building continuous and meaningful change throughout the city and beyond.
Sandra is committed to:
- Advocating for funding
- Working with integrity
- Providing consistent and clear communication
Funding
Teachers (our experts on the front line), students, parents, and all community members who depend on and contribute to a successful public school system deserve a powerful advocate for increased funding.
With rising enrolment, inflation, and political and economic uncertainty, now is the time for action.
According to the CBE Alberta has some of the lowest per-student operational funding levels in Canada, and the past three years have seen an overall enrolment increase of 17,000 students.
Sandra has the business background to work collaboratively with all stakeholders and the entire CBE Board of Trustees to push for that funding. Supporting teachers, improving learning spaces, and advancing the education of all CBE students is priority one.
Good Governance
Good governance requires solid practical experience and action. Sandra brings a strong understanding of business, finances, and operations, alongside a deep commitment to effective leadership. She is dedicated to serving with integrity.
Clear Communication and Strong Engagement
Sandra is committed to creating open, transparent, and clear communication with all stakeholders. This includes students, parents, school councils, MLAs, and anyone with a vested interest in the wellbeing and growth of Calgary’s students. She promises to keep the lines of communication open, ensuring everyone is heard and able to find the answers they need.
The protection of our children must be our first priority. They are the future leaders of this world, and we have a responsibility to ensure they have the tools and resources they need to succeed.”
